The Lodge Report: News From The Slopes

Skier With Unzipped Jacket Takes Off Like Dandelion Puff In The Wind

A skier descending with a zipped-open jacket to provide ventilation in the warm spring weather, was seen taking off like a parasailer as wind filled the inside of the coat, puffing it up like a bonbon before the skier whipped into the air like a beach kite.

Skiers are advised to unzip their whole coat, or remove the coat entirely, instead of using the half-zipped method to let out body heat.

Ski patrol also asks skiers to hang tight if they are lifted into the air, and to glide with the wind like a leaf would, until help arrives.

The skier was seen floating around like a dandelion puff as she drifted by a fir pine at which point she attempted to grab the top but flew by and ultimately landed on the shoulders of a passing snowboarder.

Mountain Bikers Rush To Ski Slopes Like Miners To A Gold Boom After Snow Melt

In an unfolding incident, mountain bikers were seen descending upon the resort town like miners rushing to a Yukon gold rush as soon as a mud trail was revealed by hot spring temps and melting snow on the slopes.

Thousands of bikers, if not millions, were seen heading this way about an hour ago, ready to shred up the slopes like a monster truck show.

“Let’s not let them have the mountain, not yet! Stand your ground!” yelled skiers and boarders like they were in Braveheart.

Skiers and boarders were quickly overrun by bikers in droves, who were seen cruising down half-pipes, bouncing off lift chairs, and intimidating ski school groups across the mountain, spinning up mud and snow at every turn.

“It’s our time now!” declared a biker as he hooked a ski jump onto his bike and rode off, demolishing the jump like it was a sand castle, but was ultimately spooked off when a snowmaker saved the day by firing up a snow gun.

Study Finds Granola Still Best Snack To Throw To Birds On-Trail

A recent study, conducted by mountain regular Tad Smith, has found that granola is still the best snack to toss to birds on the trail.

“I tried chips, they’re good, and all, but I did feel I was responsible for letting a chickadee eat junk food, so granola it is,” said Tad as a group of chickadees followed him down the mountain.

Families who frequently throw crumbs to the birds during lunch are relieved they can still use the same method without switching to something like chips, cookies, or ham sandwiches.

“I’m so glad Tad was able to confirm that granola was still the way to go.”

Melting Snow Reveals Lost Chapstick Under Lift Line Like Ice Age Artifact

As the snow melt continues, items across the mountain are being revealed like artifacts from the last ice age.

Patchy ice under Zippy Lift revealed an unopened chapstick along with several other anomalies that had been frozen under the snow cover for months.

Items include ski poles, boards, and a dropped banana that looks like it’s still good.

“It’s definitely still good to eat,” said mountain expert Winda Watkins as she slowly chipped ice away with a chisel around the banana, “the peel hasn’t even browned yet,” she continued excitedly like she had just unearthed a rare fossil, “better yet, this is an item that belongs in the ski museum!” continued Winda as she ushered the item off on a velvet towel to keep it in prime condition for the exhibit.

Winda asks skiers and boarders to call the local ski museum with any more compelling artifacts.
